Business Leader of the Year

Each year the Southern Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce recognizes a remarkable individual who exemplifies the qualities of outstanding leadership, exceptional business acumen and selfless service to the community. Businesses and individuals are invited to submit nominations no later than Monday, July 10, 2017.

Eligibility

  1. Nominees may be owners, consultants, or employees in a corporation, business, government or non-profit organization with a business orientation.
  2. Membership is not required. Nominees need not be a current or former member of SCWCC to be considered.
  3. SCWCC board members or SCWCC foundation board members are not eligible for nomination.



Criteria

  • Detail how the nominee’s leadership impacted her company, employees and community, by her coaching/mentoring, transparency and code of ethics and what type of results were seen based on her actions.
  • Give an example of a situation in which the nominee demonstrated strong decision-making skills and the impact her actions had on the final outcome.
  • Explain how the nominee creates and develops innovative events and/or programs, publications, research materials and online applications to enhance small business awareness and solutions.
  • Examples of nominee’s reputation for ethical standards of behavior in the marketplace along with a list of recognitions or acknowledgements by industry peers, or the communities in which she does business.
  • Other accomplishments demonstrating effectiveness in improving the environment for the creation and expansion of women owned businesses.
  • Advocacy of the women-owned business community as a whole, not solely for individual personal advancement.

On a separate page, please provide the following

  • Up to 500 words of narrative support that describes how the nominee has met the stated criteria and achievements in the category over the past year.
  • Up to 125 words of biographical information on the nominee.
  • Optional (but highly recommended), supporting files and online references to support the entry and provide more background information to the judges.

Nominations and all support materials must be received by Monday, July 10, 2017 by postal mail or scanned email only (no fax). A headshot photo MUST accompany the nomination, and optional support documentation is permitted.

Member of the Year

The SCWCC Member of the Year award category recognizes excellence and accomplishment among current member individuals and businesses that support the mission of economic vitality in all women-owned, women-driven and women-friendly enterprise in the Pikes Peak region. Businesses and individuals are invited to submit nominations no later than Monday, July 10, 2017.

Eligibility

  1. Nominees must be members in good standing of the Southern Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce.
  2. SCWCC board members or SCWCC foundation board members are not eligible for nomination.



Criteria

  • How does the nominee demonstrate regular engagement at SCWCC programs and events through interaction with new, prospective and existing member attendees?
  • Give examples of nominee’s reputation for ethical standards of behavior within the marketplace along with a list of recognitions or acknowledgements by industry peers, or the communities in which they do business.
  • How does the nominee promote the SCWCC Mission Statement and uphold the image of the SCWCC?
  • Describe how the member is an advocate for doing business with and promoting other Chamber businesses, fostering positive relationships between the SCWCC and the community.

  • Up to 500 words of narrative support that describes how the nominee has met the stated criteria and achievements in the category over the past year.
  • Up to 125 words of biographical information on the nominee.

Minority Owned Business of the Year

The SCWCC Minority Owned Business award category recognizes excellence and accomplishment among individuals and businesses that support the mission of minority economic vitality in all women-owned, women-driven and women-friendly enterprise in the Pikes Peak region. Businesses and individuals are invited to submit nominations no later than Monday, July 10, 2017.

Eligibility

  1. Be a woman owned and a minority owned business.
  2. The individual must own a business that has a substantial history of continuing operations for a minimum of three (3) years.
  3. SCWCC board members or SCWCC foundation board members are not eligible for nomination.



Criteria

  • What are the company’s core values, history, goals and overall mission?
  • Provide details that demonstrate the company’s profitability, growth and stability over the past three (3) years.
  • How has the nominee contributed to the economic vitality of Colorado Springs, through her leadership?
  • Describe accomplishments demonstrating the nominee’s effectiveness and advocacy in improving environment for the creation and expansion of woman/minority owned businesses in Colorado Springs.

  • Up to 500 words of narrative support that describes how the nominee has met the stated criteria and achievements in the category over the past year.
  • Up to 125 words of biographical information on the nominee.

Young Professional of the Year

To recognize career excellence, creativity and initiative, the SCWCC Young Professional of the Year will be an emerging leader, who clearly serves as a role model for peers in the Pikes Peak Region. Businesses and individuals are invited to submit nominations no later than Monday, July 10, 2017.

Eligibility

  1. Nominees must be 39 years of age, or younger.
  2. Membership is not required. Nominees need not be a current or former member of SCWCC to be considered. Individuals may nominate themselves or be nominated by others.
  3. SCWCC board members or SCWCC foundation board members are not eligible for nomination.



Criteria

  • Describe how the nominee demonstrates a high level of entrepreneurial spirit, leadership, personal creativity, and a determination to be successful in their career, community and personal life.
  • Describe how this nominee demonstrated ethical decision-making skills.
  • Other accomplishments demonstrating effectiveness in improving environment for the creation and expansion of women in the work force.
  • Describe three reasons as to why the nominee will continue to grow five (5) years into their career.
  • Civic engagement is pertinent to not only the nominee, but the community at large. Share the nominee’s activities, the goal of those activities and the final outcome of their efforts.

Up to 500 words of narrative support that describes how the nominee has met the stated criteria and achievements in the category over the past year.
Up to 125 words of biographical information on the nominee.
Optional (but highly recommended), supporting files and online references to support the entry and provide more background information to the judges.
