"Cart is Empty" error message

Q: Why do I get a "Cart is Empty" message when registering for an event?

This known glitch is due to credit card security precautions, and you didn't do anything wrong. To correct it, you'll need to go in and edit your “shopping profile” to get the records to re-synch and bypass the error. Follow these steps:

  • Log in to the website
  • Locate and follow the “edit shopping profile” link, lower left in screen
  • Next screen, select “account information”

Make certain that the address/billing information shown there matches the account info for the credit card you are using (you’ll see that the password/verify fields are blank, and nothing changes if you leave them alone; if you do make changes there, be sure to note them for later reference). Only you will know your security password for using your credit card online.

Since anyone can “shop” on the site – member or not – the MEMBER record/address and the SHOPPER record/address are completely separate (they do not cross reference) – but – once you set up a shopper profile, the billing address for the card being used must match what you’ve entered.

So, if your shopper profile is set up with a corporate address, and you’re trying to use a personal card (associated with your home address), the "cart is empty" message is likely to appear.
